Anyways my focus on this kitbash is the helmet. This 1/6 scale British MK6 kevlar helmet is by Dragon DML which I then wrapped with the Hot Toys desert DPM camo helmet cover with rubber rim.

The Dragon DML MK6 helmet is better proportioned compared to the Hot Toys, accomodating any 1/6 scale headsculpt size.

I have no British 1/6 scale weaponry so I get to use temporarily this US M60 machine gun from Hot Toys. The Load Bearing Vest is from ACE from it’s Rifleman vest set. Still a lot to update for this one to be accurate as a modern British soldier.

Parts breakdown: British DPM Parka and pants – Hot Toys / boots – Soldier Story / Scarf Shemagh – Hot Toys / Body – BBI 3.5 body.

Well not entirely all Hot Toys parts since it is just a kitbash, decided not to buy the box set, since not much of accessories in it.

I was curious with the headsculpt so I bought the head. It supposed to be a look-alike of  Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn. But this is the older Jeff and not the younger one. I don’t know why Hot Toys not instead released the younger version with that black race suit would be much better.

Anyways the sculpt looks ok but I have a hard time what to kitbash it to? The disc on his back limits some kitbash ideas. He could pass for a Jedi master, just put a robe and belt with the Jedi laser saber and voila his Obi Wan or maybe father of Obi Wan!

Also a shoulder cape and sword like a royal swordsman but seems incomplete. I had an eye for that Pirate of the Caribbean outfit of Jack Sparrow, think it would fit nicely on this headsculpt.

Thus I ended up buying the outfit and base when I chance upon it on sale. The base is cool since it lights up. The body by the way is TTL and boots is Hot Toys.

Been fiddling around with my kitbash wip’s (work in progress) but somehow can’t finish on a complete figure, ideas ideas ideas… what does 2012 brings?

I consider this just a draft kitbash, don’t know yet what to make out of him… pilot, gun crew, or maybe an AC-130 flight crew or something totally of a sci-fi genre?

Hopefully I would be able to add more gears/gadgets on him soon.

I added a long coat from Hot Toys Terminator, we can say his part of John Connor’s Resistance against the Machines!

Headsculpt is pretty decent, it’s a James Dean in any angle. The molded hair could be a problem on different size headgears but was well suited for the molded cowboy hat it came with.

The body is a different style TrueType, having a neck molded directly to the torso so only the head itself is articulated similar to the Soldier Story S2 body. It only has one pair of hands, no trigger hands included.

The jeans, shirt, vest are well-tailored and has a detailed leather belt. Boots is molded plastic with foot pegs.

The Jeans are great with a worn out look, thin (a bit of shiny) fabric , it uses velcro for the zip fly.

Figure stand is included with a James Dean name printed. Now all I need is a double pistol western holster and a cowboy rifle. Note: a cigarette is included with this figure but not shown here, I prefer no-smoking please

Headsculpt is from Hot Toys “Barney Ross” Expendables. Body is TTL.

Jacket is from InHouse Production. I think in this red color your an easy target for snipers! Jeans and shirt is from Urban Samurai Store.

 The kneepads is from Soldier Story / Asolo hiking boots is from Toys City.

It’s the Holiday Season so no weapons for now, but he does have a low profile armor vest by Hot Toys for protection

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to ALL!!!

The mask is from Loading Toys recently released 6 pc mask set. I used it here instead of the usual gas mask commonly use by SAS. The size of the mask will fit most 1/6 headsculpt but I would suggest using those smaller size heads, I’m using here a Soldier Story body and head.

This British DPM (Disruptive Pattern Material) camo smock (or parka)  is from Armoury. I think this is more accurate in pattern and color than compared to the Hot Toys version. I like the way the hood entirely covers the head.

Instead of a leg-drop, I used a shoulder holster with ammo pouch from Arts Figures.

The DPM camo body armor vest and pouches/webbing is Armoury, added a black utility pouch and kneepads from Hot Toys. Cargo pants by the way is from Barrack Sergeant.

The FN-P90 automatic rifle from Hot Toys. I think the British never use this weapon so pretty unusual for a SAS to have this.

I got these uniform and gear from Armoury British Uniform Set C and D.

The Soldier Story S2 body is easy to pose, having a good range of articulation. But I noticed these bodies have long arms and small heads.  This one has the original shoulder width, they already have a Narrow shoulder version.

Will be updating my previous SAS kitbash to match this one.

Whats new is the Life-like headsculpt and I think it’s using the Neo-3 body which has better articulation and slimmer chest compared to their older Neo bodies.

Well Dragon seems to be doing fine with this headsculpt upgrade, most of their new released figures already have this style. The neck joint by the way is loose on this particular figure, maybe just mine.

He has two boots, the other being the outer shell (?) which you can slide in over the first boots.

The space suit is made of soft material and everything detailed, including hose connectors, tags, patches etc… sorry I’m no expert on space suits so I cannot tell if they have this one accurate as the real thing.

I got the backpack on properly but I’m left with one hose hanging don’t know where it’s suppose to be connected to. He has what is sort of a “fish bowl” glass helmet on which lock into place on his suits neck rim.

Then the outer helmet worn over which has a functional clear and tinted face shield.

Not in these photos is the video camera accessory, will have to update post.

I missed out on the Hot Toys Nostromo Crew figure would be cool to place it side by side with this Astronaut, but I have this Apexplorer in red space suit for comparison.

I got used to seeing marines in the newer digital camo uniforms so I was surprised to see them in the old woodland and 3-color desert camo during the 2003  Gulf War ”Operation Iraqi Freedom”.

They were in constant preparedness for any chemical/biological attack that’s why they wore these NBC(Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) protective outer suits over their regular 3-color desert camo uniforms. NBC suit is Saturday Toys.

The Interceptor vest is from Dragon DML, the pouches is Toy Soldier. I think by 2003 the MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) system is becoming a standard gear of  the US military.

The PASGT helmet is from 21st century (I think) covered with a 3-color desert camo from Dragon DML with a Toy Soldier inner lining and straps.

Headsculpt by Hot Toys is a look-alike of Nicholas Cage. Tinted goggles is Hot Toys.

The Molle backpack with 3-color desert camo dust cover from Dragon DML. Gas Mask pouch is Hot Toys. Altama desert boots by Hot Toys (molded peg boots).

US Marines prefer the M16 rifle as its standard weapon. I got here the M16 with grenade launcher by Hot Toys from their Predator figure line.

Currently updating my previous ACU and PASGT kitbashes to suit as Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Desert Storm (Kuwait) figures.

My ThreeA zombies to present the 1/6 MGL-105 grenade launcher from ZY (Zhong Yu)  toys and the 1/6 AA-12 shotgun from Hot Toys.

The MGL (Multiple Grenade Launcher) was developed in 1981 by Milkor for the South African Defense Force but later used by other countries. US Marines aquired this in 2005 naming it M32 MGL. It shoots a variety of ammo aside from the explosive 40mm grenade like tear gas shells,

This 1/6 MGL by ZY Toys is equiped with M2A1 reflex sight scope on picatinny rail attachment and forward arm grip. Has movable parts like the rotating cylinder magazine, scope, and stock. Ammo is removable. ZY Toys made 6 variants of the MGL (140, 105, and short barrelled versions).

The AA-12 (Atchisson Assault) shotgun was developed in 1972 by Maxwell Atchisson but in 2005 rights turnover to MPS (Military Police System). It can accommodate a 8-shell box or 20-32 shell drum magazine, firing a variety type of ammo from buckshot to the Frag 12 high explosive shell at semi or full-auto of 300 rounds per minute making it one of the powerful shotgun in the world.

This 1/6 AA-12 by Hot Toys is from its Predator 2010 figure line, it is in digi camo with removable drum magazine, iron sights, forward arm grip, and surefire light.

With these explosive weapons what army can defeat the Zombies!

It was hard to do a full IBA (Integrated Body Armor) vest setup because it is bulky on 1/6 scale especially on large chested figures but I think this came out rather neat on a flatter chest body frame – I used here a Toys City/TTL body.

The US Interceptor Body Armor (IBA) was the replacement to the PASGT body armor of the early 90′s. This one is from Very Hot Toys complete with shoulder, neck, and groin protectors. The ACU is from Toy Soldier including the helmet.

The radio set with headsets is from Hot Toys, it got that long mast antenna which looks cool, can he call long distance on that? The shoulder protectors looks suited for CQB (close quarters battle) operations.

I replaced the helmet straps with that from Hot Toys which has a neck or nape guard pad. Added a clip on helmet light. This Toy Soldier helmet comes with a NVG connector but forgot to install it. Goggles with cover is from Soldier Story.

Kneepads from Very Hot Toys, molded pads are ok nice weathered finish but problem with the elastic straps it’s getting loose. The boots is hi-cut Oakley style, pegged molded plastic boot from Toys City/TTL.  Grenade pouches in woodland camo is Dragon DML.

Weapons are Soldier Story and they are great pieces especially the M1911 .45 cal pistol. The M4 assault rifle has a shorter barrel with PEQ laser pointer and ACOG site scope. I used a bayonet for his blade weapon not sure if this is the standard knife for an army grunt.

Heres a photo of the IBA vest previously with M14 ammo pouches. The vest load out now consist of 4 double mag M4 ammo pouches, an IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) pouch or can also be a general purpose pouch, radio pouch, water hydration bladder pouch (woodland camo), grenade pouches, and a small pouch for pistol ammo or anything else. I also added a dump pouch by the way.

A Hot Toys headsculpt and peg boots  on a Toys City body and gloved hands.

I use the new Toys City Gen2 AC  Uniform and old Blue Box Toys (BBI) PJ vest and low profile body armor. The body armor features a slide in slot and velcro straps.

The Gen2 AC shirt has a built in elbow shell and pads protection and is like a dri-fit shirt design with a regular uniform sleeves.

The Gen2 AC pants have knee protectors shell and pads and have velcro straps to secure/tightened the ankle and knee areas.

Toys City M9 pistol with universal drop leg holster and a Hot Toys Glock pistol on the vest holster as a back-up. Hot Toys Scar rifle his main weapon.

The vest also includes a radio with phone handset. The leg pouch is from ACE, Rappelling harness and Mich helmet from Soldier Story. It still needs a rappelling gloves and rope to make it complete.

Heres my two PJ’s, will update them to make it land and sea operation units.

IHADSS (Integrated Helmet and Display Sight System) is used by Apache Helicopter Gunship Pilots. The helmet aids in the control/operation of weapon system and flight navigation.

This helmet features a Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) system, using a scope like monocular eye display (somewhat similar to a Heads Up Display on aircrafts).

This helmet links the pilot to the on board computer system, thus simplifying certain task such as weapons aiming just like in the movies “Blue Thunder” and “Airwolf”

Similar helmet system is also now being use on latest fighter jets like the F-35 and/or are modifying current flight helmets like the HGU-55 with attachment to accommodate this HMD system.

Heres a comparison photo of my 1/6 helicopter helmets: HGU-56 by Soldier Story, Apache IHADSS by BBI, HGU-56 by Hot Toys.

I’m still working on the vest/gears for this figure might take a while before completed. The helmet size looks huge but seeing actual photos of the real thing it’s proportionally correct. Figure breakdown: Body – Toys City / Head – Hot Toys / boots – Hot Toys / Gloves – Toys City / ACU Uniform – Toy Soldier.

Originally done by Hot Toys, Soldier Story seems to have made improvements in size proportions and an addition of the maxillofacial face shield attachment.

The night vision lens can now be swivel up which was not the case with the Hot Toys version.

The first thing you will notice comparing the two helmets is the size. I think Soldier Story got better proportions.

The second thing is the sturdiness. Definitely the Soldier Story version is very fragile, material is somewhat thinner feel compared to the Hot Toys.

They both look complicated but I have no trouble fitting the helmets on the headsculpts, but using the right size will save you from breaking this helmets. do not force it when it won’t, patience is a must! Notice the battery is much larger and helmet is wider on the Hot Toys version.

Both have the clear and tinted lenses and both do have problems when lowering and raising the lenses. a slight wiggling will help with gentle care when handling this lenses.

The helmet liner (where the com earpiece are attached) differs very much wherein Hot Toys (shown at right) seems better here for its one-piece design and the cord is attached properly to the headphones. Fit this first on the head then put the helmet on.

The Soldier Story HGU-56 helmet with the maxillofacial shield off… … and with the maxillofacial shield on. It does look like the real thing when I compared it to the actual photos of an HGU-56.

Note: both are wearing Tan colored Flight Suits done by Hot Toys (Soldier Story version)  and Playhouse (Hot Toys version). both also in Addidas type black shoes and Hot Toys TrueType body. The Headsculpt on the Soldier Story helmet is bigger than the one I used on the Hot Toys Helmet.

Released together with the NW (Nightwatch) Commander, this is the second version of the so-called N.O.M. Commanders – Post Fire and Thrice Naut whose headsculpts are based on threeA co-owners Ashley Wood and Kim Fung Wong.

Nothing fancy about the packaging, good shelving space, lesser shipping fee. The figure is heavily weathered thus a strong odor of paint will greet you upon opening.

Body is similar to Hot Toys TrueType but this one is really stiff on the joints, very difficult to remove the wrist/gloves you might break it thus an extra wrist pegs is included in the box.

The headsculpt is Commander Post Fire (which is the likeness of  Ashley Wood himself). The dark skin color I think is to contrast it to the all white gear. The NW Commander (Thrice Naut) version is in all black gear with a white skin color body.

Comparing to other DW (daywatch) figure in threeA, this is weathered as opposed to just being clean plain white. The clothing looks heavy but is not, it is light and thin, its just the paint that gives it texture and weight.

Pouches includes:  Buttpack with a canister attached, three what look like ammo pouches, two sidearm holsters for his Mauser like pistols, and two air breather pouches.

Ok the main selling point of this figure is definitely the apocalyptic looking gas mask! I think this design is based on WWI gas mask. It has these tentacle looking air hoses which is made of rubber that is attached to the air breathers (sort of) device.

The eyelets on the gas mask is not transparent, its painted solid black. The helmet is similar to a WWII German helmet but this one is large bucket-like design and a flatter/wider brims. The print on the helmet is “Deep 6″ – at first glance I thought it was a big letter “T”.

WWR  (World War Robot) is a graphic novel illustrated by Ashley Wood and written by both Ashley Wood and his wife –  T.P. Louise. It’s main story is about a war between Martians (people from Earth who migrated to Mars) and Terrans (those who remain on Earth), both sides employing robots manufactured by one company Rothchild Corporation. Other factions involved in the war is the N.O.M. (Not Ordinary Men) and M.O.D.

N.O.M. wants to end the war and reunite all mankind while M.O.D. opposes N.O.M. and wants to continue war for they profit in it.

It’s just my kitbash not the complete boxset figure but I got here the original Hot Toys HGU-56/p helmet and of course the survival vest gear too.

The HGU-56/P helmet by Hot Toys (a holy grail for some 1/6th collectors), It has AN/PVS-6 (or PVS-15) Night Vision lens scope with battery, mic boom set, double visors – tinted and clear, inner cap liner with headsets, and wires wires wires!

It even has a small pouch, i think for strobe light or cigarette holder!?, anyways this helmet is crazy cool! It does seem a bit large but the coolness just amazes me.

The Hot Toys SOAR survival vest and body armor. The vest includes pouches for radio (it has the AN/PRC 112 radio) and HABD - Helicopter Air Breathing Device (they use this for oxygen when in emergency situation), several multifunction pouches (like for maps, flares, knifes etc.),  LPU-34 life-preserver (flotation device).

Aside from the Woodland MARPAT jacket which is from Saturday Toys, the rest is Hot Toys – Kneepads, boots, ACU pants, gloves, Truetype-38 body. I also included a rappelling harness by the way from Soldier Story.

I guess it’s time to update my previous SOAR kitbash since Soldier Story came out with their own version, new gears are readily available especially the HGU-56 helmet. Will compare the helmets soon when I got the ones from Soldier Story.

Using a DID body and headsculpt (for now), looks ok but having problem in posing especially with holding the weapon since the hands is not suited for trigger pose.

The Blue overall uniform (Dragon DML) and body armor vest (Gameitoy) is based on early GSG9 outfit since at present they have already updated their uniform/gears including the helmet (mostly all black).

The unique GSG9 camo helmet with visor and radio com by Dragon DML (camo is not that accurate compared to the one done by BBI). Handle with care with this helmet since it’s a bit fragile especially the visors and mike.

I added kneepads (ACE) and drop leg pouch (Soldier Story). The belt with knife and flashlight is from Dragon DML.

For the sniper I use jeans (Newline Miniature) and Jacket with hood (Dragon DML). I see some photos of GSG9 in civilian clothing with their full gear similar to the Hongkong SDU’s.

Assaulter: Pistol/holster (Hot Toys) is an M9 with attached light ; Benelli M4 Super 90 Semi-automatic Shotgun (Hot Toys) with telescopic stock.

Sniper: Pistol/holster (Playhouse) Glock 17 with extra magazine ; Heckler & Koch PSG-1 sniper rifle (Hot Toys).

I’m hoping to complete a squad of 5 men at least, planning on displaying them in a breeching entry pose.

If Ashley Wood is to ThreeA, then it’s Brothersfree to BrothersWorker. Brothersfree is composed of three hongkong based artist/toy figure designers – Winson Ma, William Tsang, and Eric So.

Hot Toys manufactures the Brothersworker figures. these are long sold out thus the expensive price tag and is hard to find. I’ll let the photos speak for itself regarding the quality of this figure.

I love the headsculpt design, cartoonish style, hair and mustache is not molded plastic which is good.

Brothersworker figures uses the Hot Toys TrueType body earliest version! so not that fancy in articulation compared to the newer TrueTypes. They even have those early Hot Toys muscular rubber bodies on some of their figures.

But Brothersworker excel when it comes to the accessories and most noticeably the headsculpts! Every figure is one cool dude! (they do have female figures too by the way).

This figure came out first than the Hot Toys Firefighter v2.0 so there is a slight difference in the accessories but basically the same (like metal parts and leather straps).

One item included in this figure not in the Hot Toys Firefighter v2.0 is this face o breathing mask. He still has the regular full face gas mask with oxygen backpack tank. Also included is a fire ax and retractable crowbar in one piece and a metal wire/cable with hook clamps.

Oh and the Teddy Bear, it has articulation, legs and arms pivots at the joints!Hands down this is one of the coolest 1/6 figure I purchased! ;)

This is the ThreeA Zombie featuring the version 2 headsculpt.

This Zomb must be from the 80′s for having a new wave hairstyle!

Wearing the usual boiler suit but in Orange color, heavily weathered and worn out. The hair color and boots  is shaded orange to match the suit.

What surprises me was the FSZ print at the back of the suit and has a white shirt compared to the black shirt on my previous Oracle Zomb.

What I need now is the original Zomb headsculpt to complete my Zomb horde collection!

Note: The color of the suit looks a bit like yellow maybe due to lighting but in actual it is dark orange.

This is Zomb the Blind Oracle figure from ThreeA design by Ashley Wood. A bit pricey and limited, I got this loose and is part of their 2 pack set  – Mauro JC and Zomb the Blind Oracle.

Check out the hairstyle, reminds me of Butters of the animation series South Park This is the first zombie figure which features the 4th design headsculpt (Currently there are four head designs, the third headsculpt remains a mystery head since it will not be release).

This zombie is wearing a black or a worn-out faded gray(?) Boiler suit and ThreeA logo shirt inside (both heavily weathered).

ThreeA is using a Hot Toys Truetype (or similar) body, notice the neck, wrist, and ankle joints are very compatible to Hot Toys. The boots is a boot-feet (or plug-in type).

The hands are designed to be extra-large in proportion to the body, which is true to all Ashley Wood figures. The whole body is painted too, matching the hands and head color.
